Energy solutions for the fertilizer industry.
Fertilizer plants turn air, gas and mined ore into plant nutrients, and every route runs through a high-temperature step. We supply the boilers and heat exchangers that recover that heat, on the sulphur route and the nitrogen route alike.

Introduction
Nitrogen fertilizers start with ammonia, made by reforming natural gas, and go on through nitric acid to ammonium nitrate, or through carbon dioxide to urea. Phosphate fertilizers start with sulphuric acid, made by burning sulphur, which digests phosphate rock into phosphoric acid and then into single and triple superphosphate, MAP and DAP. Potash and sulphur-based fertilizers come from mined ores. Each route has a heat recovery boiler at its hottest point: the sulphur furnace, the ammonia converter, the reformer, the nitric acid converter. The fertilizer industry is where our boilers earned their record.
What we bring
- For the sulphur route: waste heat boilers, gas-gas heat exchangers, preheaters, economisers and superheaters for sulphuric acid plants, and the same for wet gas sulphuric acid units
- For the nitrogen route: converter boilers, superheaters, economisers and start-up heaters for weak nitric acid, and reformer gas boilers for methanol and ammonia
- Captive power plants on EPC where the complex wants its own electricity
