Waste heat boilers for zinc roasters.
Roasting zinc sulphide releases gas at 950 to 1,000 °C, full of fine calcine dust and sulphur dioxide. Our roaster boilers cool it into high-pressure steam and hand a clean gas to the acid plant.
Where the heat is
Zinc concentrate is roasted in a fluidised bed furnace to convert zinc sulphide to zinc oxide. The sulphur leaves as SO2 in the roasting gas, which exits the furnace at about 950 to 1,000 °C and is cooled in a waste heat boiler before cleaning and conversion to sulphuric acid. The calcine goes on to leaching and electrolysis. The roaster boiler is the plant’s main steam source and the gas-side gateway to the acid plant.

Waste Heat Recovery Boilers
For Zinc Roasters
Zinc concentrate is roasted at about 950–1,000 °C, producing high-dust off-gas that is cooled in a roaster waste heat recovery boiler ahead of the sulphuric acid plant.
