CARBON BLACK
Energy solutions for carbon black plants.
A carbon black plant makes its product by cracking oil in a reactor and then has to cool the smoke and burn the tail gas. Both steps are boilers, and ours have been running in India and overseas for decades.

Introduction
Furnace black is made by burning natural gas with preheated air and injecting oil feedstock, which cracks into carbon black at extremely high reactor temperatures. The reaction is quenched, and the smoke passes through an inline reactor boiler that cools it to filter temperature while raising steam. The tail gas that leaves the filter is a lean fuel, and firing it in a tail gas boiler generates high-pressure steam for the plant's power.
What we bring
- Tail gas boilers that run without support fuel, control combustion by gas temperature, and hold steam temperature throughout the operating range
- Inline reactor boilers for tread and carcass grades in vertical and horizontal construction
- Air and oil preheaters for the reactor train

Tail Gas
Lean off-gas from the filter fired in a tail gas boiler for high-pressure steam and power. Detailed application page to follow.

Carcass Black
Softer grades at higher throughput; the reactor boiler cools a larger gas volume. Detailed application page to follow.

Tread Black
Reinforced grades made hotter and finer; the quench boiler sees the plant's highest temperatures. Detailed application page to follow.
